Kaysie: Outdoor Portraiture

Hi everyone! This was a really fun shoot that I did of my friend Kaysie last week. We went out around 4p.m. to one of the parks near town, near the mountians. It's a big meadow called Buffalo Park. It's a park where a lot of people go to walk their dogs or workout. But it has a gorgeous view of the peaks.
If you look closely at her eyes and skin you'll notice a slight golden glow on her. This is my reflection panel that i used to bounce the light back at her. For this shoot I wanted the sun behind her to creat a nice rim light around her. If I didn't have my reflection panel... it would have been a complete desaster! She would have come out much too dark and I would have had to over expose tremendesly in order to get any detail on her. A reflection panel is a must when shotting outsoors!
Editing was fun. I always like using lightroom. I use the adjustment brush for eyes and skin, sometimes hair too. I usually add clarity to the hair and eyes and then a very slight mount of clarity on the skin. Sometimes I even bring up the exposure just to give it a glow and clean look. I'm a big fan of that. I would occasionally go into photoshop to work on the background. Considering I don't have an awesome 1.8 lens yet.. I create the effect in photoshop using the iris blur or tilt shift, which are very powerful.. and also a bit desructive as far as editing goes. I have to make sure I have a good selection of my subject before going in and bluring the background.
Hope you all ejoyed looking at my photographs! I love taking portraits, and hope to develop my style more and more.
